If the words of many critics are to be believed, listeners at the May 2 performance of Claudia Schmidt are destined for a magical evening. RAAC’s (Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community) 8 p.m. offering of Ms. Schmidt’s music at the Gay Street Theater in Washington is a long anticipated event.
Says Garrison Keillor, host of NPR’s Prairie Home Companion, of her contributions to his show: “When Claudia sings a song, it stays sung.”
Claudia has performed professionally for ten years in the United States, Canada and Europe. Stereo Review awarded her second album, “Midwestern Heart,” an honorable mention as album of the year.
There is no category for what has evolved as her style. She draws freely from all music that crosses her ears, and synthesizes into a focused and exciting concert that people never forget.
