Huntly, a junior in communications at Virginia Tech, was among the 856 students in the College of Arts and Sciences who made the dean’s list during the winter quarter.
The Rappahannock County Education Association held a dinner April 15 honoring 0. A. Norton and Mrs. Mary Quaintance, retiring Superintendent of Schools and elementary principal, respectively. Approximately 117 persons attended, including family members of the honorees, teachers, and other educators.

It’s time to talk turkey again
with spring gobbler season opening last weekend. Hubert S. Gilkey IV of Chester Gap shot a 20 lb. 4 oz. bird at 6:30 Monday morning in Huntly. The beard on the big gobbler measured 8 3/4 inches.
Mark Wittl, deputy with the Rappahannock Sheriffs Department, scored high marks, both academically and with a gun, at the Central Shenandoah Criminal Justice Training Center. Wittl, who graduated from the center on March 26, received certificates in basic law enforcement training, a required course.
