Two juveniles were picked

up on suspicion in Amissville early Monday morning by Deputy Sheriff John Walker Jenkins. After running a check on them, it was discovered they were escapees from a boys’ prison in Maryland where they were serving time for armed robbery and misdemeanors. They were retained in Rappahannock jail until Maryland authorities picked them up Tuesday.

James V. Davis has accepted the position of vice-chairman of promotion for the 1967 Boy Scouts of America “Scouting in Action” show to be held May 1213 at Martinsburg, W. Va. The show will include participation by Boy Scouts from Shenandoah, Frederick, Berkeley, Warren, Rappahannock, Jefferson, Page, Clarke and Morgan Counties.

The Sue Slaughter Group of Shiloh Baptist Association will meet Thursday evening, April 27, at Washington Baptist Church. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.

Washington, Va., a mayor and six council members will be elected on Tuesday, May 2. The slate of officers on the ballot is headed by Andrew Kozik who seeks the mayor’s seat.
