In Hampton District, Michael Massie will square off against Lee Bird. Mr. Massie has served as chairman of the Rappahannock County Landfill Site Selection Committee, which surveyed 15 proposed landfill sites and made recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. Mr. Bird has served as a member of the county’s Board of Zoning Appeals for several years.
Rappahannock’s other three supervisors — Charles K. (Pete) Estes, Piedmont District, Hubert Gilkey, Wakefield Dtarict, and Nelson Lane, StonewallHawthome District — will run unopposed for reelection.
All of Rappahannock County’s other constitutional officers will run unopposed as well: Sheriff John Henry Woodward, Treasurer Frances Foster, Commissioner of Revenue Beverly Atkins and Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke.
Clerk Diane Bruce serves an eight-year term, and is not up for reelection this year.
