Burke reunion
The families of the late Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke will hold a reunion on Sunday, June 14, at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Family members and friends are invited to attend, bringing a picnic lunch and beverage, and meet old and new friends. Lunch will be served at 12:30.

The Concerned Citizens of Jackson District will hold a meeting at the Amissville Fire Department on Thursday, June 18, at 7:30 p.m. An update on the landfill situation will be given. All county residents are invited to attend. .

Folktale into theater
RAAC’8 Artists’ Forum Series presents the artistic director of The Golden Key Performance Group, Julie Portman, who will lead a daylong workshop in the art of transforming a folktale into a theatrical presentation. Using gesture, acting, live music and movement the participants will explore the rich images that form the inner meaning of the folktale. Please bring your favorite folktale.
Live music will be performed by Mike Vargas, a member of The Golden Key. This workshop will be held on Sunday, June 28, 10-4 at Blackwater Homestead. Pre-registration is requested by June 20. Call Tutt Stapp-Harris at 636-3066. Bring lunch to share and wear comfortable clothes.
Free belly dance class
, Rappahannock County’s own professional belly dancer, Anthea, is offering beginner’s belly dance classes at Angela’s School of Dance, 141 E. Davis St., Culpeper, starting Wednesday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. The first class is free. All ages and sizes are invited. Be sure to be there.
Creative photography workshop
An adjunct seminar to Clyde Lee’s photography show will be offered by Middle Street Gallery on Fridays, June 12 and 26, at 7:30 p.m. Photographers Elsa Rosenthal, Cynthia Mahan and David Roehler will share ideas and techniques to be tried out by participants. The results will be shown in the second session. No experience is necessary. The fee is $20 for both sessions. Call 675-3440 or stop by the Gallery to pre-register.
Beef for Father’s Day Contest
Children under 18 are urged to enter their father’s name in a “Beef for Father’s Day” drawing to be held at Flint Hill Store on June 19. The event is sponsored by the Virginia Cattlewomen.
The winner will receive $10 in beef. Children are reminded that they can only present one entry per visit.
