Learn to read

with Public TV

“Learn to Read” is a new Public Television production being aired locally by WNVT, Channel 53; WVPT, Channel 51; and WHSV, Channel 3. This 30part series was created to teach adults basic reading skills. Each segment will help the individual with phonics and in building a sight-word vocabulary of survival and practical words, according to a public televison spokesman.

The programs began broadcasting early in June, and the airtimes on each individual station are as follows:

• WNVT, Channel 53: Each Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m., with each week’s segments rebroadcast on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

• WVPT, Channel 61: each weekday at 9:30 a.m., rebroadcast at 5:30 p.m.

• WHSV, Channel 3: Each weekday at 5:30 a.m., rebroadcast at midnight.

More information about the program may be obtained by calling (703) 662-8997.
