Ethel Cooksey
Ethel Juliet Cooksey, 94, of Amissville, widow of Beqjamin F. Cooksey, died on June 6, at the Culpeper Health Care Center.
She was a native of Rappahannock County and the daughter of the late William Burrell and Emma Nora Spillman Corbin.
Mrs. Cooksey, a resident of Amissville for about 50 years, was a retired postmistress for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Amissville Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. A.C. Walker of Culpeper; five grandchildren, John F. Walker of N.Y., Philip A. Walker of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Judith Reid of Brandy Station, Mrs. Susan Parker of Atlantic Highlands, N.J. and Mark C. Walker of Stone Mountain, Ga.; seven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on June 10 at the graveside in the Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, the Rev. Sidney Rodriguez officiated, assisted by the Rev. Paul Franklin.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Amissville Rescue Squad.
Geest-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
