try has grown in leaps and bounds. With only five wineries licensed in 1978, the number has grown to 23 with two others ready to go on line. There are more than 1,600 acres planted in the Old Dominion. WJiile in 1980 60,000 gallons were produced, the 1986 crush yielded 280,000 gallons.
The festival provides the opportunity to make a one-stop tour of Virginia’s major wineries - all in one place at one time. Festival hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.
Tickets are available from member wineries and at convenient TicketCenter outlets in Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland. The Virginia Wineries Association has a toll free number for advance ticket reservations priced $2 lower than festival day gate admissions. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the gate. The chairman of this year's festival is Claire Reeder of Burnley Vineyards and Winery. The president of the Virginia Wineries Association is Archie M.
