Amissville should be tested on a regular basis to determine the safety of wells at the cost of Rappahannock County. As for safety measures, it is endangering all of the people in the village of Amissville. As far as control structures, the county will allow anything to pass.
(6) VISUAL EFFECT: “Selected site should minimize the impact on the scenic beauty of Rappahannock County.” Stover tract: By a straight line, the landfill is to be one-half mile from Rt. 211, the four-lane highway through Rappahannock County, not saying anything about the thousands of seagulls, mice and other rodents it will attract. The constant traveling of stinking and unsightly trash trucks along Route 211 through the heavily populated village of Amissville. It’s as far away from Washington, Va., as possible which Mr. Massie opposed in the Lee site.
(7) GROUND WATER: “Depth to the water table should be great enough to prevent any possibility of contamination.” Stover tract: The drain-off will go into the three streams. The larger stream goes through the center of Stover’s property which never went dry even during years of drought.
