A family foundation has
awarded a $20,000 grant to Sursum Corda School and Day Care Center, according to director Camille Harris. “It is survival money,” she emphasized. Ms. Harris added that the same foundation will provide another $20,000 toward the center’s operational deficit next year, contingent upon effective use of this year’s award and upon meeting local fund rasing goals. “So what the grant has done is give us two years’ breathing space,” the director noted.
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department’s carnival begins next week with special events Wednesday, June 16, through Saturday, June 19. Wednesday is family night, Thursday the big parade starts at 7 p.m., Friday the queen will be crowned, and Saturday will be the grand prize award.
