into the Rappahannock River which is less than IV2 to two miles from the landfill site. It will as well endanger wells of citizens downstream.
(8) LAND USE: “Impact on existing land uses should be minimum. The site should not be located near a village or residential area. If possible, destruction of prime farmland or timberland should be avoided, and visual impact should be minimized.” Stover tract: The site is within sight of Route 211. If it was any closer to a village, it would have to be located in a central area of the Amissville village. Adjacent land is being used for vegetable crops that are being sold to the public. Visual impact on 86 family dwellings within a one-mile radius.
(9) SIZE: “The tract should be large enough to allow for adequate buffers and long term use.” Stover tract: The portion that is to be used is located at one end of the Stover property nearest to the village of Amissville, truck farm land and Mr. Carson’s.
We are still in hope of working something out with the Board of Supervisors. However, should our efforts fail, we must appeal to your expertise and fair judgement in this matter.
Enclosed is a list of signatures of our local citizens opposed to this proposal. As was brought out in the meeting April 8, 1987, responsible and fair government is the heritage of all Virginians.
