Also recommended are vaccinations for all three and four-year-old children enrolled in day care centers or pre-school. Additionally, any children between the ages of 18 months and two years who spend time in day care centers should receive the vaccine. This is a one-time shot.

The Rappahannock Health Department, located at the rear of the Clopton House on Gay Street in Washington, now has the vaccine available. Shots may be administered Monday through Friday, 8 to 9 a.m. and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., through Sept. 11. Parents may also arrange for vaccinations by appointment.

Please call 676-3516 for information or an appointment. There is a sliding scale charge for the vaccination, based on family income. The fee ranges from no charge to a maximum of $6.60 per shot.
