Soccer tryout
this week
The Rappahannock County High School will hold tryouts for the fall soccer sea* son each evening this week, Coach Scott Currie has announced.
Practices will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m. Mr. Currie said that any interested RCHS students, including eighth graders, are invited to come out and join the tryouts. Coach Currie added that physical examination forms and insurance waivers must be filled out and signed before any athlete will be allowed to practice. For additional information about physicals, insurance or tryouts, call the high school, 987-8675.
Coach Currie also said that there will be a soccer clinic at the Culpeper Junior High School this Saturday. The clinic will feature players from the Alderson-Broaddus team from West Virginia. Team members and coaches will work with interested players on fundamentals and techniques. The clinic begins at 10:30 a.m. It is free and open to all interested youth.
Following the two-hour clinic, there will be a college match between AldersonBroaddus and the George Mason University team. It is being sponsored by the Culpeper Soccer Association and the Yowell Meadow Park Association as a kick-off for the county’s fall youth soccer program. According to the Sponsors, this game between two nationally ranked college teams is a first for the Culpeper area, and should provide exciting competition, as well as a chance for area youngsters to see talented, experienced soccer players in action.
