George Hiter Davis III of
Washington, Va., was graduated from the College of Law of the University of Tennessee on August 23, 1967, with the'degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. Commencement exercises were held in the Knoxville Civic Coliseum for the 772 graduates of the summer quarter. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis Jr., also of Washington.
Total rainfall for the month of August in Amissville measured 7.99 inches, according to Miss Lucille Riley who manages the official weather gauge there. She also stated that this was the heaviest rainfall in any one month in the past five years. From Sunday, Aug. 20, through the morning of Aug. 29, the gauge showed a total of 6.68 inches of rain. Precipitation measured at the gauge in Washington by Miss Ruby Jenkins for the month of August totaled 9.80 inches with 7.57 inches reported falling in the period of Aug. 20 through 29.
