Unsuspecting visitors at the Child Care and Learning Center might be perplexed by those strange calls more familiar to riders in the hunt field. But the calls are appropriate. In this case, however, the "tallyho” comes not at the sight of the fox but at word of yet another donation and the “yoicks” doesn’t urge on hounds but rather the volunteers who are pulling together the Center’s annual auction Which this year will have - you guessed it - a hunt country theme.
The auction, one of the non-profit daycare center’s major fund raisers, is set for Saturday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the center on Route 211 just west of the town of Washington.
Appropriate to the hunt-country theme, the centerpiece and top item for the live auction will be $2,500 worth of horse, donated by Marriot Farms of Hume. The gift certificate can be used towards all or part of one of the fine animals available at the Marriot sale later this fall.
