The Fauquier Chapter of the American Red Cross has begun its annual spring drive to raise funds to continue the work of the chapter,in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties.
Last year the chapter was responsible for the training of nearly 600 persons in water safety aqd swimming and more than 100 in cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques. It also collected nearly l,jj()0 units of blood from more than 700 donors and helped nearly 100 veterans and members of military families.
It accomplished all of that on a budget of less than $20,000 a large portionof which was remitted to the national headquarters of the Red Cross. This year the chapter hopes for contributions of more thftn $20,000, both to meet its expenses and to rebuild its reserves, depleted by two years of deficits.
