WILLIAMSBURG - Rebounds in planned construction and new car sales throughout the state suggest that Virginians’ confidence in the economic future is rising, according to the latest Virginia Business Report, published by the Bureau of Business Research at the College of William and Mary.
“Building permits statewide rose strongly this February, up 15.7 percent compared to February 1987, spkurred by surges of more than 100 percent in many areas,” said Roy L. Pearson, director of the bureau and editor of the report. “New car registrations also increased sharply, by 27.2 percent, the first sign of real strength for new car demand since December 1986.”
