Benefit dinner planned
The Warren County Council on Domestic Violence announces its fifth annual dinner to be held at Calvary Episcopal Parish Hall on Tuesday, April 26. The speaker will be Pat Groff, Project Director, The Shelter, Front Royal, Warren County, Virginia. Laboratory open house
In honor of National Medical Laboratory Week, April 10-16, Fauquier Hospital will be holding a Clinical Laboratory Open House Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come to Fauquier Hospital and take a tour of the lab and watch demonstrations of various lab procedures. Meet the staff of the laboratory department and find out how their services can be beneficial to you.
Lions benefit acution planned
The Rappahannock Lion’s Club auction will be held Saturday, May 14, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Washington fire hall. Benefits will go towards new scoreboards for the new gym at the high school. For more information call 987-8395.
Extended hours at Treasurer’s Office
County Treasurer Franees Foster has announced the Rappahannock Treasurer’s Office will have extended hours through the month of April in order for residents to obtain their county stickers. Hours will be 8a.m. to5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Honorary Fire Chief
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is looking for young women, 12-18 years old, to compete for the title of Honorary Fire Chief. The title will be awarded at the Department's annual carnival. For more information, contact Joyce Lillard, 987-8952.
Spring event April 16
Washington Baptist Church’s major fund-raising event of the year is scheduled to coincide with the Fodderstack Race on April 16.
Homemade baked goods including soup and fried chicken, apple butter and pies will lead the list of food items available. Refreshments also will be served. Additionally, church members will sell nursery plants and trees and crafts supplied by the Baptist Young Women. Recreational games for children will commence on the church grounds that morning, too.
“Not only does the Spring Event secure for our church much needed funds, but it gives us a chance to grow closer together at the Body of Christ as we pursue a common goal,’’ Rev. Larry Hovis said. Receipts for the day have been designated for the church’s air conditioning fund.
