More sightings, another search
About 9 p.m. Thursday, however, two Old Hollow residents reported seeing a man matching Leaf s description with a small boy walking along Rt. 612 near the intersection of Rt. 600.
The sheriffs department immediately went to the scene and requested assistance from the state police. They began a search and brought in a tactical team and a tracking dog, which combed the woods and searched houses and barns in the area until nearly dawn Friday. The driving rain which fell all night grounded the state police’s helicopters, which the team had hoped could provide light from above with their powerful searchlights.
More federal agents were brought in on Friday, and the search was widened to include parts of Gid Brown Hollow and the fields, buildings and hills south of Rt. 211. Reports of sightings began to come in from areas other than Old Hollow, and were investigated.
