Apply now for land use
The office of the Commissioner of the Revenue is now accepting applications from landowners who wish to place their acreage in the county's land use program for the 1990 tax year, Commissioner Beverly Atkins announced this week. Those now in the program should have received their renewal forms in the mail, which must be signed and returned to the commissioner's office. Anyone who wishes more information about the program, or who has not received a renewal form, should contact Ms. Atkins at her office (675-3513). The office isopen 8:30a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
School night for Scouting
The Shenandoah Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, will hold its annual School Night for Scouting at the Rappahannock County Elementary School on Thursday, Sept. 21, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Parents and students are invited to attend this meeting and learn about the opportunities offered through Scouting. Boys as young as first grade can join a Cub Scout pack as a Tiger Cub. The Cub Scout program is designed for boys in second through fifth grade who are not yet 11 years old. There will also be an opportunity for boys to register as Cub Scouts during the meeting.
