15 YEARSAGO

September 5, 1974

A team composed of Bob

O’Bannon and Mary Tompkins, both of Woodville, won this year’s running of the Twenty-fifth Annual Rappahannock County Labor Day Invitational Handicap Mixed Doubles Whistlecup Tennis Tournament. The O’Bannon-Tompkins team won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, over Mrs. Marta Tholand and Joe Bow. Though Mrs. Tholand had some trouble with her first service, she was on top of her game. Bow played excellently, especially at the net; but the two veterans were no match for the younger players.
