John Jackson in concert
Renowned blues musician John Jackson will come home to Rappahannock this Friday, Sept. 8 for a concert at the Gay St. Theater. Sponsored by RAAC, the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 in advance, $9 at the door. ?

Sperryville's fall festival
The Sperryville Business Council will once again sponsor its annual fall festival on Oct. 7 and 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. There will be Victorian carriage rides, games for children, crafts galore, basketweaving demonstrations, apple butter boiling, catalog closeouts, antiques, apples and fun of all sorts. “Plan to come to Sperryville, spend the day and enjoy the festival,” said organizers. Lecture series planned
Spring Mountain School, a newly formed kindergarten, is sponsoring a lecture series on Waldorf Education. The first of the series entitled “Waldorf Education and the Young Child,” will be given by Joan Almon, the chairwoman of The Waldorf Kindergarten Association of North America. Homemakers craft show
The Culpeper Extension Homemakers will hold their 19th annual craft sale on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Culpeper Agriculture Enterprise Grounds Rt. 29 South. 'Dangerous Liasons'
The movie Dangerous Liasons will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The movie stars Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Michelle Pfeiffer. Malkovich is the Vicomte de Valmont, a shameless gentleman who preys on female hearts and minds for sadistic pleasure; Close is his former lover and still partner in cruelty. An entertaining romp through 18th century France, with a deliciously cynical ending. The movie is rated R. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
EMT class in Amissville
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Emergency Medical Services Council will sponsor a class leading to state certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. The 110-hour class will begin on Sept. 12, and be held each Tuesday and Thursday evening from 7-10 at the Amissville fire hall. It will end with the state written and pratical tests on Jan. 16, 1990. Coppage reunion planned
The families of the late George and Florence Coppage will have their annual reunion on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Rappahannock Park, on Rt. 211, Washington. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. “Come and join us in love, fellowship and fun,” said a family spokesperson.
Annual fire school
The Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association will sponsor its annual Fire School at the Amissville VFD on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17. Classes will include Ventilation and Overhaul, Instructor I, Confined Space Rescue, Apparatus Maintenance, Public Fire Education (open to anyone, whether or not they belong to a fire department) and Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course (EVOC).
