You certainly have to hand it to Lou Hatter. You have to hand it to him, I say, because if you don’t, he takes it. For example, having been unable to win the pro-abortion fight on its merits, he has simply said, all right, the fight’s over, we won it, and you Pro-Lifers out there, this is what your next battle should be all about.
Nice try, Lou, but it won’t work.
For one thing, what we ProLifers are trying to do now is stop the slaughter of innocent babies at the most defenseles stage of growth, by well-paid mercenaries using physical and chemical weapons. This is not a white-glove, tea party crusade, to be abandoned any time the wind blows a new challenge across the landscape. It’s a battle that, yes, does get low down and dirty once in a while. This brings us to the second point: zealotry.
That’s a yawn, really. There has not been a cause since the world began that has not spawned its own zealots. As the old prayer has it, God save me from my friends, I can take care of my enemies myself.
