Billy Updike
Billy David Updike, 45, of Sperryville died Sept. 5 at the University of Virginia Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Updike was a native of Warren County, the son of the late Ernest and Edith Jenkins Updike. He was a cable foreman and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Darlene Dodson Updike; two sons, David Updike and Ernest Updike] both of Sperryville; and three sisters, Ernestine Fincham of Front Royal, Lillian Fincham of Aroda and Cordia Smoot of Washington.
Funeral services will be held today Thursday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Geest-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Pickier. Interment will be in Culpeper National Cemetery.
Clement Dodson
Clement Dodson, 88, of Madison died September 2 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Charlottesville.
He was bom January 18, 1901 in Rappahannock County. His parents were the late Melvin C. and Lucy Ann Nicholson Dodson.
Mr. Dodson was a retired farmer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, the late Bessie R. Dodson.
Survivors include three sons, Leonard, Bray and Curtis Dodson, all of Orange; two brothers, William “Will" Dodson of Nethers, Va. and Millard Dodson of Madison; seven grandchildren, Sonny Dodson, Donna Knighten, Elizabeth Thomas, Theresa Dodson, Timmy Dodson, Bessie Dodson and Annette Dodson, all of Orange; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Sept. 5 at the Preddy Funeral Home chapel, Orange with the Rev. John Jarman officiating. Interment was in the Etlan Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Dodson, Nelson Dodson, Bobby Fincham, Wayne Murphy, Larry Dodson and Doug Tucker.
