Bailey reunion
The Bailey family reunion will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Salem fire hall on Rt. 522 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. All are invited.
'Born on the Fourth of July'
The movie Bom on the Fourth of July will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Tom Cruise stars in this hard-hitting movie about a disabled Viet Nam Veteran. Nothing Cruise has done will prepare you for what he does in this film as Ron Kovic who connects the war of arms abroad with the war of conscience at home. The movie is rated R.
RAA community meeting
The Rappahannock Athletic Association Little League has set the general community meeting for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 at the Rappahannock County High School. A1 Kellert, president of the RAA, said that although the focus of the meeting is the election of the 1991 officers, there also will be brief reports on the status of the League’s financial position as well as the structure of the 1991 board. All coaches and board members should attend as well as those interested in coaching next year. All other interested persons are cordially invited to attend.
Dance at CCLC
The Child Care and Learning Center will sponsor a dance on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight, with music by the OK’s. Admission is $7, with the proceeds to benefit CCLC’s scholarship fund.
Wharton family reunion
The family reunion of the late Henry Taylor and Lillie Margaret Cloud Wharton will be held at the Rappahannock Park on Sept. 8. Family and friends are welcome to come and bring a picnic lunch. “Lots of fun for all,” said a family organizer.
Bingo at Castleton
Castleton Volunteer Fire and Rescue companies will be reopening bingo activities on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. Opening night will include special games and prizes. Regular bingo will be held every Saturday night thereafter with a jackpot of up to $500.
