Lung Assn,

sponsors 2nd

bike trek

The American Lung Association of Northern Virginia and Virginia are accepting registrations for the Fifth Annual Colonial Virginia Bike Trek, Oct. 5-7 in Williamsburg.

Because registration" for last year’s Colonial Virginia Bike Trek was filled by mid-summer, interested area cyclists are encouraged to register now. The trek is sponsored this year by PruCare of Richmond/Washington, D.C. from the Prudential.

For a $25, non-refiindable registration fee and at least $275 in donations to the Lung Association, cyclists will eiyoy a two-day, 100 mile (50 miles each day) journey through Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown and Surry County.

Trekkers will receive two nights’ lodging at the Williamsburg Hilton; a welcome reception; breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday; an Italian feast Saturday evening; a Colonial Virginia Bike Trek shirt and prize incentives for trekkers raising more than the minimum amount of pledges.

“This event has become one of the premier cycling events on the East Coast,” said Annie Wimmer, trek coordinator. “The money raised by our trekkers puts our event among the top bike treks nationwide.”

Last year 464 trekkers helped raise $202,000 to support Lung Association programs, including smoking cessation, children’s asthma camps and lung disease support groups.
