Trooper Knick said Ms. Rush was westbound on U.S. 211 at the intersection with Route 1003 just east of Sperryville when her 1977 Ford sedan ran off the left shoulder of the highway. The car continued through a field before striking an embankment and stopping.
Ms. Rush was wearing a seat belt, the trooper said, and was not injured. He estimated damage to the car at $1,000.
One man was injured after a crash on Route 630 between Flint Hill, and Huntly on Sunday afternoon, according to Trooper Knick.
Robert S. Wharton, 60, of Castleton, was westbound in his 1976 Ford pickup, while Curtis R. Norman, 24, also of Castleton, was driving east in his 1989 Dodge hatchback. <
The two vehicles met in a curve, Trooper Knick said, and Mr. Norman’s car skidded into Mr. Wharton’s pickup truck. Mr. Norman was charged with failure to drive to the right of the center of the highway.
