RCES cookbooks
The parents of this year’s seventh grade class have compiled a cookbook featuring recipes submitted by fellow parents of Rappahannock County Elementary School students. The books will go on sale at Fee Day, Aug. 30. The cost is $7. Those who placed advance orders for the cookbooks may contact Arthur Neufeld at RCES (987-8259) before or after school to arrange to pick them up. All profits from sales of the cookbooks will help fund the seventh grade trip to Williamsburg.
Finances for Women
The Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers and AARP will co-sponsor a “Women’s Financial Information Program” to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 11 and run for seven consecutive Tuesday evenings. The meetings will be held at the Extension Office on Gay Street, beginning at 6:45 p.m. and concluding no later than 9:30 p.m. There will be a $10 fee for the course. The program is designed specifically to assist women in managing their finances today and in planning for a secure financial future. Call the Extension Office (675-3619) for additional information.

Fire school Sept. 15,16
The Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association will sponsor its annual Fire School at the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16. Classes offered will include Hazardous Materials (Level I), Pump Operations, Basic Firefighting Skills, Incident Command and Silo Fires/Farm Equipment Extrication. Pre-registration is encouraged since each class will be limited to 30 students.
