Ecology Conference
For the first time, the statewide 4-H summer environmental leadership conference is moving to the mountains. The Virginia 4-H Mountain Ecology Conference will be held August 2-6 at the Southwest 4-H Center, Abingdon. Young people, ages 14-19, are invited to attend a full week of environmental and outdoor, experiential activites, which will certify them as “Youth Environmental Educators.”
Highlights of the program will include: canoe trips, stream and forest ecology studies, initiative and low/high ropes activities, mountain hiking and camping, and a variety of hands-on workshops.
Evening programs will include Earth Fest complete with games, contests and entertainment; pool parties and dances, movies and pizza, and a special, closing evening program.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop their leadership
