Are fathers as tough as they seem? Maybe not... Yes, most fathers seem brave and strong, but they may not always feel that way. Sometimes, the world is not kind to fathers. They try to hide the hurt, but there are signs and symptoms. They may appear droopy, even in their best clothes. Half smiles and wrinkled brows are sure signs. Sometimes fathers are grouchy, like bears ... or unusually talkative ... or strangely quiet... they just aren't themselves. How can we soothe a hurt father? We can ask him how he feels, but he may not answer. We can tell him we love him, that he is the best father in the world. (That's better than a bandaid.) Alw-ays smile. It's contagious. Most importantly, remind him that his Heavenly Father loves him unceasingly and receives visitors in His house each Sabbath. Finally, give him a big hug. Fathers need loving too. Copyright 1993.
