I would like to thank Mr. Gilkey for his vote in support of the farmers.
I would like to know why this product was voted down when the two public hearings were very much in support of using this product. It seems to me that when a major decision is made by the County, some Supervisors say it is a state mandate. Now we have a product that is recommended and regulated by the state and has no charge to the citizens who chose to use the product, the Board votes it down even though the majority was in favor.
Maybe the system doesn’t work anymore or maybe the system does and the people we elected to speak for us do not. I don’t claim to. be a pro-advocate of sludge, but myself and other farmers that are trying to make a living from farming would like to have the choice whether to use sludge or not.
