It has been building in me, without my conscious knowledge, for probably ten years now, maybe a little more, the feeling of well being. Happiness is what? I know, but it one of those almost indiscribable things.

I have had the good fortune of having recovered from a killing addiction-alcohol-and like others who have gone the distance certain changes were forced upon me. This was the first step in the acknowledgement of who I was, where I was and how I got there. It provided the opportunity to throw pretense away without losing anything.

There was nothing left to lose. The first step toward freedom.

In my early progress I thought that I had found happiness because I felt so good. It was soon apparant that I felt good because I had ceased feeling so bad. Then little depressions came when things I wanted did not come my way. I had not gotten back the things that I had lost and believed important.

I have occasionaly told people, whose business was to listen, that I was uncomfortable. The old worries manifested all of my life. I was not where I wanted to be and I was not doing what I wanted to be doing, nor was I pleased with the people with whom I dealt day-to-day.

The troubles had no solutions. I had no answers, just problems. I did not know where it was that I wanted to be, to do, etc. Just the continuting
