I had barely arrived at the state Republican Convention when it became obvious that George Allen, Mike Farris and Jim Gilmore had locks on the nominations for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general respectively.
That quick conclusion took away much of the suspense and ; left the media pundits with little more to do than speculate about what they called an ultra-conservative ticket would be able to do against a so-called moderate Democratic ticket.
