Leake. This purchase left a narrow strip of land still owned by Mr. Leake between the end of the school property and Route 636. Mr. Leake also owns land on the other side of Route 636. He has been taking hay from the land the county will buy. It is a buildable lot, however.
Last Tuesday VMDO Architects of Charlottesville, which is designing the school addition, presented sketches of the proposed addition to a small group of citizens attending a meeting to provide suggestions from the community for the addition The plan calls for 14 classrooms ,o be added in a wing stretching south from the current gym and cafeteria.
The classrooms will house tlv* kindergarten, first and second grades. The plans also show an office. mechanical room, and toilets. The cafeteria will be 20 feet longer making an 800 square foot addition to that space. The addition can be entered through a glass-enclosed corridor running beside the current gym or through a separate entrance.
On the land books Mr. Leake's parcel is listed at 4.02 acres and assessed at $32,000. Mr. Leake also owns a 21.9-acre parcel on the other side of Route 636 which includes his house and is assessed at $151,000 and an adjoining 8.14-acre parcel as sessed at $34,600.
