Meanwhile the boys’ cross country team split a meet last Wednesday at Strasburg. The team lost to Strasburg but defeated George Mason. The score was Strassburg 25, Rappahannock 43, and George Mason 66. Jason Waters ran first in a time of 16:50. Mike Grimsley ran fourth, and Mark Jenkins ran sixth. Mike Wolfe ran 14th, and Nathan Flinchum ran 18th. For the girls Holley Gangel ran second.

Coach David van de Graaff said some of his runners were tired from having run against Luray on Monday. “We were running first, second and fourth,” he said, but his second and fourth place runners were passed in the end.

The cross country team was to host a meet against Central and Brentsville Wednesday and run against Clark County and George Mason at Goerge Mason next Wednesday.
