The Virginia Department of Education is seeking applications for the 1994 Virginia Summer Residential Governor’s School Programs.

The Governor’s Schools, in operation since 1973, allow academically and artistically gifted high school sophomores and juniors to spend four weeks at* a college in Virginia during the summer. The programs include intensive study, hands-on experience, field trips, research projects, and discussions with noted scholars.

Separate Governor’s school programs are offered in the humanities, science, and fine arts. In addition, mentorship programs are available for students to work side-by-side with researchers at NASA Langley Research Center, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and the Medical College of Virgina. Fees for room, board, and academic course work are paid for by the Virginia Department of Education.
