The Forest Grove Baptist Church in Viewtown will be holding its annual fall revival services beginning on Sunday, Oct. 3 through Wednesday, Oct. 6. All services are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The guest minister for this year’s revival services will be Dr. Samuel LMC Young, who is presently serving as the minister of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ruckersville. In addition to his ministry at Ruckersville’s Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Dr. Young has served since 1986 as the chaplain and executive director of the Drug and Alcohol Education Services, an interdenominational ministry sponsored by the Virginia Council of Churches.
Dr. Young is a native of Hamilton, Scotland. He holds a diplomate in music from the Hochschule fuer Musik in Frankfurt, Germany, studying under the tutelage of Professor Paul Hindemith. He also has a BA and a MA from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, a PhD from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and a BD from the Baptist Theological Seminary of the University of Wales.
Prior to assuming his present ministries, Dr. Young served from 1983 to 1986 as pastor of the College Park Baptist Chruch in Danville. From 1978 to 1981, he served as pastor of the Evangelisch Freikirkliche Geneinde/Trinity Baptist Church of Bitburg, Germany, a congregation of German Baptists and American military personnel jointly affiliated with the German Baptist Union and the Southern Baptist Convention.
