John Yowell
John Daniel Yowell, 61, of Culpeper died Monday, March 14 at his home.
Mr. Yowell was bom Sept. 15, 1932, in Rappahannock County to Hugh A. Yowell and the late Virginia Withrow.
He was also a member of the Culpeper Baptist Church.
Surviving with his father are his wife of 23 years, Mrs. Marie Dodson Yowell; one son, Hugh Daniel Yowell of Culpeper and five daughters, Donna Marie Yowell, Wanda Gail Lloyd, Tracy Nadine Jenkins, all of Culpeper, Melinda Louise McDonald of Tocoma, Wash, and Angela Wellington Gray of Hampshire, Term, and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Thursday, March 17 at Fairview Cemetery with Dr. H.O. Browning and the Rev. John Miller officiating.

Evie Lawson
Evie C. Lawson, 93, of White Post, died Wednesday, March 16 at the Shawnee Springs Nursing Home in Winchester.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 19 at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in White Post by the Rev. Michael Byrd. Burial was in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery at White Post.
Mrs. Lawson was bom Sept. 6, 1900, in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late Henry and Mary Young Allen.
She was a housewife and a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She was the wife of the late Herndon P. Lawson Sr.
Surviving are two sons, Herndon P. Lawson Jr. and Stanley H. Lawson, both of White Post; a daughter, Nancy Jefferies of Winchester; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Freeman, Geary Day, John Morton, Charles Jackson and John Morris.
Enders Funeral Home in Berryville was in charge of the arrangements.
Mattie Lake
Mattie Butler Lake, 87, of Culpeper died on Saturday, March 19 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Lake was bom in Woodville on Sept. 25, 1906, to the late Sam Whorton and Julia Hitt. *
Mrs. Lake ran a nursing home on East Street for 25 years and she was a member of Woodville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lake is survived by five daughters, Laura Ann Compton of Rixeyville, Dorothy Dowdy, Mildred Jenkins, Corine Scott and Jane Jenkins, all of Culpeper.
She is also survived by two sisters, Addie Keyser of Washington and Ollie Dodson of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lake was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie O. Butler, one son Hollis “Butch” Butler and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 22 at Found & Sons Chapel with the Rev. John Farrar officiating.
Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.
