Mary Carter
Maiy Helen Carter, 93, formerly of Washington, D.C., daughter of the late John and Ruth Wills of Washington, Va. died on Monday, March 21 at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal.
She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy C. Butler of Sperryville; two step-sons, William Carter of Washington, D.C. and Morris Carter of Sperryville; four grandchildren, M. Nanette Butler of Washington, D.C., Doretha H. Butler of Williamsburg, Sheila Marsh and Lisa Wills, both of Philadelphia, Pa.; one great-grandson, Joel C. Wills of Philadelphia, Pa. and one daughter-in-law, Doloris C. Wills of Philadelphia, Pa.
One son, John E. Wills, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Washington at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 25.
Viewing will be at 10 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be at the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Woodville. Rev. Dr. Wendell R. Grant will be officiating. (

Safety Day

Participation, involvement, dedication and commitment are all words which typify the REALTORS place in the community. The REALTORS Community Outreach Committee is displaying their concern for the community and the children by organizing a “Children’s Safety Day and Easter Bunny Visit” at Floyd T. Binns School in Culpeper from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 2 at the school’s cafeteria.
The Culpeper Town Police will give a talk on safety tips for children to help them identify potentially dangerous situations. REALTORS will provide the children who participate in the program with photo identification cards. The children will also be finger printed which helps local officials with quick identity.
The project organizers are Sunita Lai of the Better Home and Gardens/The Holden Group, REALTORS and Norma Mayo of Coldwell Banker/Clore REALTORS. They, along with several other REALTOR volunteers, are donating the cost of the program to offer it to children of all ages for free.
