School Superintendent David Gangel sent a letter home to parents Thursday evening that said “a student was discovered possessing a firearm on Rappahannock County Elementary School grounds.” The letter notes that School Board punishment for such an offense can be as severe as expulsion.
“The School Board views weapons in school as an extremely serious violation of policy,” the letter notes.
Dr. Gangel said there had been other incidents involving weapons on school grounds. Some involved knives, some ‘look alike” guns (toy guns), one incident involved a gun that did not work. In one case the student was expelled. He said this
