Children visiting the fair will have the opportunity to “plant a face” in a pie pan or make a topiary. Food vendors will also be on hand, including High on the Hog from Sperryville.
Ms. White began volunteer work at the arboretum three years ago at the garden fair. She had signed up to work a half day, and ended up being there all weekend. “They needed people to help. The chairman of the next year’s garden fair asked me to help with that, and this year I am the chairman. You cannot help learn while you are here. It is just so much fun,” said Ms. White.
Ms. White now attends classes at Lord Fairfax Community College. “There is so much knowledge for me to get a hold of. Working with the plants and experts here at Blandy I have learned a great deal. The people who work here are absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable.”
During the garden fair, attendees are requested to bring their old plastic nursery pots, flats and multipacks for recycling. Hours of the fair are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The state arboretum is located on U.S. 50 in Boyce. '
