Upon entering Doc’s Ole Stone House in Sperryville, you might hear a voice out of the blue saying, “■Hello! Want to buy a bird? Woof, woof!” - Don’t worry. That’s Chico the parrot. He knows over 300 phrases, and learns new ones all the time. He loves to mock people, and when visited recently, he asked, “Do you have a bathroom?”
Chico’s owners are Joyce and Sam Samuel, who moved here this past winter from Valley Center, California, a town of about 5,000 people near Escondido in Southern California.
• The Samuels searched all over Virginia for a property in which they could live upstairs and have their antique business downstairs. They finally found just what they wanted on U.S. 211 in Sperryville, Doc Snead’s stone house which served as his medical offices. * • With their two sons living in Richmond, the Samuels decided to move here to be near them.
