There are two new computer areas in the high school this year.
A special education room has been turned into a second computer lab. There are 12 computers in the room for student use, and the idea is to have them available throughout the day. REAP, the new volunteer organization in support of the high school academic program is trying to find volunteers to monitor the use of the room.
At book day, last Thursday, parents were asked to sign up to volunteer at the high school. One of the organizers, Judy Tole, said the group is also very interested in finding community members, who are not parents, to volunteer. The group is also looking for volunteers to monitor the lunchroom and make copies for teachers. The original computer lab is in use for much of the day for classes. The second computer lab would be for student use and not set aside for classes, but it can only be used when an adult volunteer is in the room. Volunteers will be welcome for one day a month, a few hours a week, or whatever will suit their schedules, Mrs. Tole said. REAP has made a start in organizing volunteers at the high school, but more volunteers are needed. Volunteer forms are at the high school and in businesses in the county. They should be returned to the high school office when they are1 filled out.
