Mike Wolfe of Slate Mills attended the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.V this summer from July 3 to July 13.
The National Young Leaders Conference is a leadership development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Mike, a junior at Rappahannock County High School, was among 350 delegates attending the conference from across America.
The theme of the National Young Leaders Conference is “Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today.” Throughout the 11-day conference Mike had the opportunity to meet leaders from government.
He met with an aide to Sen. John Warner and met with Rep. Thomas Bliley, who represents Charlottesville and Culpeper. His group also visited the Jordanian Embassy and met the American ambassador to Zaire. “We learned how other countries work with oUr country and how we need ambassadors,” he said.
