Pianist Christopher Harding will present a benefit piano concert in the Assembly Hall at Wakefield Country Day School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9. The performance will include selections from Scarlatti, Haydn, William Bolcom, and Chopin.
Mr. Harding’s last appearance in this area was in 1993 when he gave a recital at the Anderson House in Washington, D.C. In 1992, he was chosen by Mstislav Rostropovitch to perform Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with the National Symphony Orchestra for their Labor Day concert. Don Maclean of the Washington Post described the performance as “the highlight of the night...Harding’s exceptionally clean lines and precise articulation...brought an unusual depth and beauty to the work. He received a well-deserved standing ovation for his superb effort.”
Christopher Harding has been playing the piano since the age of seven. His early training was with Milton Kidd at the Preparatory Division of the American University Department of Performing Arts. He earned a Bachelor of Music with the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music,
