In response to one question, Mr. Baker said that the park and lartdowners will have to work together along with the Virginia State Police and the Madison County Sheriff to control roadside parking. “We really have no authority over parking along a state road,” he added.
Park Ranger Bob Martin, who is part of the staff for the Central District of the park said the Old Rag area is the most used part of his district. “We have counters imbedded in the popular trails, and we were wondering whether our increased counts were indicating more use or just more accurate counting. Our rangers have made it clear that we are seeing greatly increased usage here,” l\e said.
