An eclectic mix of songs from American musicals, English Ballads, and favorite Italian and German opera is planned for the Theatre at Washington at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18. The concert is a benefit performance on behalf of the Friends of the Rappahannock Public Library.
Peter Barton, baritone, and Deanna Briedis, lyric soprano, will be accompanied at the piano by Michael Taylor. Selections from the musical theater include songs of Cole Porter and George Gershwin as well as a medley from “West Side Story.” From opera, Briedis will sing Mimi’s aria from Act III of “La Boheme” and Barton will sing Germont’s “Di Piovenza il mar” from “La Traviata.” They will also sing some operatic duets.
