To the Editor:
I live in Arlington and work for the U.S. Government, but because I own a cabin and some property on Marshall Mountain near Flint Hill and spend most weekends there, I frequently read your newspaper. I believe that I have what may be a unique perspective on Ollie North’s campaign for the Senate for your readers, so I feel compelled to respond to Mr. Rich’s letter in the Aug. 24 edition. ■
Mr. Rich discussed a number of issues on which North’s campaign would prefer to focus, but there are two points which he did not discuss which I believe we voters cannot afford to overlook. First, based upon his own testimony to Congress in the Iran-Contra Scandal, Ollie North violated a number of U. S. laws and undermined the consitutional process, thereby violating his sacred oath to “protect and defene the Constitution of the United States of America.” Second, I do not like to think of North’s actions as “conservative,” and I am sure that he is not a good role model for young Virginians who identify themselves as “conservative ”
