Friday, Sept. 9 will officially begin the 25th Silver Anniversary year in the history of Lord Fairfax Community College.
During the morning a group of Influential leaders who contributed to the development of the college, formers President William H. McCoy, current President Marilyn Beck, former students, and college personnel will come together to reflect and to talk about their memories and involvement. The result from this group of people meeting will be the publication of “A History bf the First 25 Years” to be distributed in the spring.
At 2 p.m. on Sept. 9 there will be a 25th Anniversary Celebration Program to “kick-off’ the Silver Anniversary year. Virginia Community College Chancellor, Arnold Oliver, former Delegate Alson H. Smith, Jr., the Honorable Harry F. Byrd, Jr., and former first college President William H. McCoy will be featured guests for the program. The contents of the time capsule from the 40th Anniversary will be displayed hs well as historic scrapbooks from the College’s early years.
