One of the world’s leading quartets to perform the great classical and early romantic repertoire of period instruments comes to the Theatre in Washington on Saturday, March 18, in the afternoon.
The Smithson String Quartet concert is the third in this season’s popular “Smithsonian at Little Washington” series. Works by Mozart, Haydn and de Momigny are on the program which begins at 3:30 p.m. A pre-concert talk begins at 3 p.m.
Founded in 1983 by first violinist Jaap Schroder and cellist Kenneth Slowik, the Quartet, which now includes violinists Jorie Garrigue and violist David Cerutti, has toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, and has an impressive discography to its credit. The Quartet is one of the ensembles-in-residenceat the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
